Data Democratization

...

Overview

I strongly believe in data-driven decision-making, and that is why research is so ingrained into my process. Although mobility has largely been the focus of my career, I have done some work exploring ways to make accessing and exploring data easier for non-technical users. The work on this page highlights the work I have done to make public data about New York City more accessible to the general public.

Areas of Focus:

Open Data Product Development
...

The City of New York boasts one of the most robust Open Data portals in the world. Inspired by the principles of Open Government, I built a public-facing web app that makes it easy for non-technical users to explore data using intuitive report builders and interactive visualizations.

Community Outreach and Education
...

In collaboration with the City of New York's Office of Data Analytics, I teach introductory courses about Open Data to help educate the public about what data is available and how they can explore it to find out more about how their city operates.
